Career Tools Academy FAQs

We're excited to introduce Career Tools Academy, a new area within Career Tools that brings some of Year13.com.au’s amazing content directly onto Career Tools. We've teamed up with Year13's industry partners to make these valuable resources easily accessible for schools and students through Career Tools. 

You’ll be able to assign activities like Virtual Work Experiences, Industry Tasters, and Life Skills, track student progress, and store everything in one place. Plus, there will be exclusive content that you won’t find on the Year13 website.

What programs are available?	Virtual Work Experience (VWE):  VWEs are short, interactive experiences that have been created with leading Australian employers, such as Microsoft, Commonwealth Bank and the ADF. They include job information, pathways advice and e-learning activities that give students a ‘taste’ of what each role involves.  Industry Tasters: For students wanting to explore careers at a higher level, our Industry Tasters provide broad industry information. These courses can be useful for students who want to start investigating an area of interest, e.g. Defence, as each course contains information about available roles, benefits, salaries, pathways etc.  Life Skills: Our new Life Skills courses can be used to teach students valuable skills in a fun, easily consumable way. These have also been co-created with subject matter experts, such as our AI skilling modules with Microsoft and KPMG.

What if I have students that have already completed activities on the Year13 site?	Unfortunately Year13 is a separate platform, so completions on Year13 will not be reflected in Career Tools. Students will need to complete the programs again on Career Tools to generate a certificate.
Where can I see reporting on what students have completed?	In your teacher area, there will be a new menu item for reporting on the Career Tools Academy feature, where you will see a record of student's completions.
Can I assign Virtual Work Experiences, Life Skills and Industry Tasters to students?	Yes, you can assign any of the activities to students as a group or individually via the assignment feature
Do the students get a certificate upon completion? Does this need to be approved?	Students will receive a certificate they can download after completion; it does not need to be approved.
Is there an additional cost?	It is not an add-on product therefore it will be automatically available across all our tiers, including Essentials, as part of our commitment to continuously add value to your existing plan.
How long do the activities take?	Programs vary in length, but typically take approximately 30minutes each.
How can I see them as a teacher?	The best way to see and get a feel for the activities is to impersonate a demo student account.
